New Parents Evening - Tuesday May 21st

All Year 7 parents and parents of new students in Years 8 – 12 are invited to the New Parents evening on Tuesday May 21st.

Light refreshments will be served between 6.30 and 7.00pm in the school canteen area followed by information sessions for parents in the Brookes, Chapman, Sharman and Bryce sub schools.

This evening allows parents to meet and chat about the start to the school year for your child, meet your child’s sub school coordinator and also to ask any questions you may have regarding your child’s education at The University High School.

We hope to see you at this evening.

Kay Peddle
Assistant Principal

Enrolments

Please Note: The School has been receiving applications on behalf of students not yet living in Australia. Only applications for students currently living in Australia are considered. Similarly, the School has been receiving applications on behalf of students who intend to move from interstate or other zones. Only applications for students currently living in the zone with requisite proof of residence are considered.

General information

Not all students who seek admission to The University High School can be accommodated. Parents who feel that the learning of their child would be best fostered at The University High School are invited to make an application.
It is Government policy that parents may apply for a place on behalf of their child in any Government School regardless of where they live. The University High School is held in high regard and, consequently, experiences a very heavy enrolment demand. The School is constantly liaising with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) regarding the management of enrolment applications which greatly exceed the capacity of the school.
This information sheet outlines the procedures which have been adopted to process all applications in an open, consistent and equitable way. The School has an Enrolment Committee that processes all applications.

Student Reporting to Parents

Progress Reports

Years 7 - 12

The Student Progress Report is part of the overall reporting procedure at The University High School with the overall Reporting Package for each Year 7 – 12 student as follows:

  • Parent/Student/Teacher (PST) interview meetings during Term 1 and Term 3.  It is expected all parents/guardians and students attend these interviews so that student learning and progress can be discussed.
  • Five student progress reports in weeks 6, 14, 20, 30 and End of Year (EOY) during the school year. These reports are specific to The University High School and assess students achievement, attitude and effort on a percentage scale. Students will also set an achievement goal with each teacher. At the end of each semester all Year 10 , 11 and 12 students will also receive a Satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (N) score for each subject.
  • All students in Years 7 and 9, will also receive a NAPLAN report, (National Assessment in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Numeracy), at the end of Term 3.
